Welcome to episode 2!
All posts and reviews of wine are broken down in plain language for any new wine drinker to understand. This wine community is open to anyone over 21 years old, as well as anybody who wants to explore the world of wine.
All reviews and opinions are solely my own and do not reflect any other organization.
I wholeheartedly believe we can break this notion that wine is for only "certain people".
You know the people I'm talking about; "wine snobs", "bougie", "high class"- the list can go on and on. We are not here to label or make fun of others; but rather, to open the unique world of wine to everyone.
I believe Wine Culture can be for anyone who likes wine - your background, lifestyle, and how much you make does not matter here- all are welcome!
So let's get started! Come sip with me!
OZV (Old Zin Vine) Zinfandel Year 2020

Today we will discuss this wine's overall profile, which includes the following:
This wine's Style, Varietal, and Type

Where to buy this wine so you can try it yourself.
This wine's style is a bold red wine: we can tell this because of the heaviness the wine feels on your palate. Usually, when it comes to dry red wines, the dark color and the heaviness of the wine are what makes the wine considered "Bold".
The Varietal of this wine is Mostly Zinfandel; aprox. 85% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The type of this wine is "dry"; however, it presents with a jammy finish due to the fact that it is an old vine zin; meaning, the vine grapes have been around for a while allowing them to grow bold fruit. This accounts for the "big jam" taste in the wine.
Alcohol is at 14% per volume. Please drink responsibly, it is a doozy!
This wine is a California-based wine from Lodi and it is produced from Oak Ridge Winery. It has been in my top 3 favorite wines to drink because of its big, bold, fruit-forward profile; typical of Central Valley wines.

When I smell this wine, I automatically get a great bouquet; this means it smells good with a lot of different notes/profile smells.
The first profile I smell is a big jammy smell, similar to PB&J. I say this because you can also smell yeast in the wine which I happen to really enjoy. The second profile I smell is #rainedonblacktop. It smells similar to how rain hits the blacktop or the dirt. Very nostalgic for people who played outside after it rained as a kid, This is what is known as an earthy aroma, and boy, is it fantastic!
Upon tasting the wine, I initially got a fruity plum taste with notes of jam. As I dove deeper, I got a combination of vanilla oak with a milky finish. AKA, it finishes smooth.
I believe it gets a purple color from the petite sirah, most petite sirahs I have encountered have a deep purple color. This wine is a must-try.
If you are looking to purchase this wine you can find it at Rite-Aid, Walmart, Target, Savemart, or most liquor stores. The price ranges from $10 to $15. This qualifies under my Sippin' on a Budget Category and makes a great wine to share with others.
If you are looking to visit The Oak Ridge Winery and Tasting Room their address is 6100 East Victor Road (Highway 12 East), Lodi, California.
I hope you do try this wine!

I have yet to visit the Oak Ridge winery in Lodi, however, since it is in my own backyard, it is going to be on my next adventure. I love OZV and yes, it is very fruit foward and when I take a sip, it always puts me in a good mood! I love the color, when it is in a glass and light reflecting through shows the purple and the richness of it. Once I get a whiff of the blend, it opens my taste buds right away! Thanks for sharing such a gem of a drink, it is a budget friendly wine, and Lodi has all the great zinfidel wines!
