Welcome to episode 4!
All posts and reviews of wine are broken down in plain language for any new wine drinker to understand. This wine community is open to anyone over 21 years old, as well as anybody who wants to explore the world of wine.
All reviews and opinions are solely my own and do not reflect any other organization.
I wholeheartedly believe we can break this notion that wine is for only "certain people".
You know the people I'm talking about; "wine snobs", "bougie", "high class"- the list can go on and on. We are not here to label or make fun of others; but rather, to open the unique world of wine to everyone.
I believe Wine Culture can be for anyone who likes wine - your background, lifestyle, and how much you make does not matter here- all are welcome!
So let's get started! Come sip with me!
The Pessimist Red Blend 2021

Today we will discuss this wine's overall profile, which includes the following:
This wine's Style, Varietal, and Type
This wine's smell and taste Profile
& Where to buy this wine so you can try it yourself.
The style of the wine is red, with the varietal being a blend of 76% Petite Sirah, 12% Zinfandel, 10% Syrah, and 2% of Lagrein. Now, most of us have heard of Petite Sirah/ Syrah and Zinfandel but I personally have not had many glasses of Lagrein. I have since learned that Lagrein is in less than 9% of production in Alto Adige (a Northern region in Italy that borders Switzerland) and ages like a Cab Sauv. This variety grows where the mountains meet the Mediterranean. Thank you Wine Folly! There are now small amounts of this variety that grows on the central coast of California. Wine makers love to blend Lagrein with Petite Sirah and Syrah to make a perfect red blend.
The wine is a deep red-purple color. It smells like all different kinds of berries, which include: boysenberry, cranberry, and a mix of sweet jam paired with the tartness of a plum. The second profile I smell is kind of like a leather smell paired with a powdered donut; which is more similar to milk and sugar.
Now to taste this red blend! This wine smells like it tastes and tastes like it smells. It is very fruit forward, jammy, all around sugary but not too sweet. I think this red wine would be great to pair with spicy food such as spicy Indian dishes, a deep complex spicy Mexican Mole dish or a peppery steak. This wine would balance out the spice and it is a must try.
This wine is made by Dauo Winery located in Paso Robles, which is in the California central coast about 30 minutes from coast and 2 hours from Fresno. (if you are coming from the Cali-Valley)
This qualifies under my Sippin' on a Budget Category and makes a great wine to share with others. I purchased this wine at Rite-Aid for $24. On the bottle it states "A Pessimist is never disappointed", however, I know you will never be disappointment by this wine.
I hope you try this wine soon!
